India will get the Pixel 6a later this year. Google hasn’t said when it will release the new Pixel A series phone in India yet, but we know that the phone will be announced in the coming months. When it comes out, it will probably compete with the OnePlus 10R smartphone, which just started selling in India for less than Rs 40,000. The expected price range for the Google Pixel 6a is also the same. Here is a quick look at how the two high-end phones compare.
Pixel 6a vs. OnePlus 10R: Price Comparison
The Pixel 6a will sell for $449 in the United States and about Rs 35,000 in India. But don’t expect it to cost this much in India, as taxes and import duty charges will likely raise the price. In India, the Pixel 6a is likely to cost around Rs 40,000 (about $620).
In India, the price of the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model of the OnePlus 10R 5G starts at Rs 38,999. This price is for the 80W model, while the 150W model will cost you Rs. 43,999. This is for the configuration with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Pixel 6a vs. OnePlus 10R: Display, design
Pixel phones no longer have retro designs like the Pixel 5 series. It has a different back panel design that makes it stand out. The design is similar to the Pixel 6 series, which costs more. Both the OnePlus and Pixel have fronts that look like Samsung phones, since most phones don’t have displays with a hole in the middle. The good thing is that there is no slogan or other writing on the back panel.
The back of the OnePlus phone is made up of thin strips, and it also comes in soft colors. The device has a back panel and frame made of polycarbonate. They both have stereo speakers. Unlike the OnePlus 10R, the Google Pixel 6a is made to be waterproof, which will make users happy, especially when it’s raining. The device has an IP67 rating, which means it can work for about 30 minutes in up to one meter of water.
With the Pixel 6a, you get a small 6.1-inch HDR display that will probably make it easier for anyone to use the phone with one hand. The panel only works with 60Hz. The OnePlus 10R has the best display. It has a bright 6.7-inch AMOLED screen updated 120 times per second. The panel supports a color depth of 10 bits and is HDR10+ certified. It has a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 coating, while the Pixel 6a only has a Gorilla Glass 3 coating. Both phones have fingerprint sensors built into the screen.
Processor, software, comparison: Pixel 6a vs. OnePlus 10R
A customized MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX SoC powers the OnePlus phone. At the same time, the Pixel 6a has Google’s Tensor chipset, which is also found in the flagship Pixel 6 series. We can’t say anything about how well the Pixel 6a works because it hasn’t arrived in India yet, but we can say that the 10R has a good chipset and can do well in everyday tasks.
Both phones will get three years’ worth of significant updates to the Android OS. Google promised that the Pixel 6a would get five years of security updates, but the OnePlus phone will only get four. Out of the box, the devices come with Android 12.
Battery, fast charge
The 10R has an advantage over the Pixel phone in this category because it can charge faster. Under the hood of the Pixel 6a is a 4,410mAh battery, and it only supports 18W USB-PD fast charging.
There are two different battery and charging models for the OnePlus 10R. One of them has a 4,500mAh battery and can be charged at 150W, while the other has a 5,000mAh battery and can be charged quickly at 80W. The 150W model is much more expensive, and to buy it, you’ll have to spend more than Rs 40,000. OnePlus says that the 150W fast charging technology can charge the phone to 50 percent in 5 minutes. The 80W charger will take about 32 minutes to charge the phone 100 percent.
What about the Camera?
A new 12.2MP dual-pixel f1.7 primary camera for taking pictures with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). It has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera that the Pixel 6 series also uses. There is an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls, which is the same as the top Pixel phone from last year. One will be able to take videos in up to 4K at 30fps. The front camera can also record up to 1080p videos at 30 frames per second.
The OnePlus 10R has three cameras on the back. One is a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor that works with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). It also comes with a Sony IMX355 sensor with 8 megapixels and a GC02M1 macro camera with 2 megapixels. On the front, there is an EIS-compatible 16-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL S5K3P9 sensor.
